News ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- A house fire broke out on Oakwood Avenue in Elmira on Sunday evening. Emergency crews were called in after a fire broke out in the basement of the home. The Horseheads Fire Department, the Elmira Heights Fire Department, and the Elmira Heights Police were all on scene. Crews blocked Oakwood Ave between West McCanns Boulevard and Verona Street in both directions as the fire was put out. Firefighters say there were no reported injuries, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
