(WENY) – Twin Tier residents can sign up for the Lackawanna Rail Trail parkrun free of charge that will take place on August 19 at 9 a.m. The 5K run will begin at Wegman's parking lot and end near the Lackawanna rail bridge. All residents of all ages are encouraged to register. The community event was founded in the early 2000s in the United Kingdom looking to promote more inclusivity for all types of backgrounds. Recently, the organization has partnered with the city of Elmira to bring New York State's first ever parkrun and hope other neighboring towns will introduce the three mile long run into their communities.
