Officials are seeking public assistance in identifying human remains that were found recently in a wooded area in the Town of Elmira. Hunters discovered the skeletal remains off Bowlby Road, according to the Chemung County Sheriff's Office. Representatives from the sheriff's office criminal investigation division responded and began a probe into the discovery. The remains were found several hundred yards into the woods west of 150 Bowlby Road, the sheriff's office said. Due to the condition of the remains, neither the age nor sex of the body could be determined.
